About This Tea
White Tea buds scented with the floral and sweet essence of fresh red roses is our latest flower tea. This tea is produced according to a very old recipe and technique developed sometime in the 1300s where dried tea is mixed with fresh flowers in order to infuse the tea with aroma and flavor from the flowers. Fresh flowers have very delicate and complex aromas that are easily absorbed by tea. The aromas of flowers are often only found in the fresh flowers at their peak bloom and not in simply fried flowers. The art and skill of flower scenting tea relies on timing, manipulation, separation, careful drying and attentive curing. No flavors or additives can be used in this organic method. The tea scenting process to infuse tea with the natural fragrance of flowers is typically carried out to make jasmine tea, which is one of the most popular styles of green tea. Over the years, Rishi has developed several unique types of seasonally scented, organic flower teas using the same time-tested recipe and scenting techniques to create: Yunnan Tea Rose, Magnolia, Orange Blossoms, Osthmanthus Blossom, Winter Plum Blossom and Pomelo Flower teas.
We chose Yunnan Silver Needles for its sublime sweetness and ability to absorb the essence of fresh rose flowers. This batch of Silver Needles has a deep flavor formed by the big buds cultivars grown in the rich red soils of Jinggu, Yunnan where this tea is harvested 1500 meters above sea level. Widely esteemed for its glistening and frosted white appearance, elegant sweetness and noble character, Silver Needles White Tea is comprised of pure, individually plucked tea buds harvested only in the early springtime. This tea's inherently sweet, nectar-like flavor and fruity aroma is beloved by tea connoisseurs and provides the perfect pairing to amazingly aromatic and succulent tea roses from Yunnan.
