How to Brew Loose Leaf Teas

To brew the perfect cup of tea, we recommend you steep 1-1.5 tablespoons of tea in 12 ounces of hot water. The recommended water temperature for your tea depends on the type of tea you’re brewing. Based on how you brew your tea — such as with a sachet, in a teapot, or an infuser — you may find different flavors and aromas appearing more strongly in your brew.

FAQs

The caffeine content in our teas vary greatly based on the type of loose leaf tea you buy. Black and Pu’er teas often have high amounts of caffeine, comparable to a cup of coffee, while green teas have a middling amount. White teas have lower caffeine levels, and herbal teas are generally considered to be caffeine free. You can find the exact caffeine content on each tea’s product page.

Our Direct Trade process ensures long-term, committed, and uplifting partnerships between us and our farmers.

Yes! 95% of the teas we offer are Certified USDA Organic, ensuring the enjoyment of the highest quality, cleanest brew possible. While not all of our teas are certified organic, we have ensured the highest quality of farming practices in each of the gardens we directly source from. 

Our loose leaf teas are best enjoyed within 2 months of opening. If stored properly in an air-tight container, our teas will never “expire,” but they will begin to lose complexity and aroma. Some particular teas in our selection, such as Pu’er or aged white teas, actually get better as they age.
